Copyright is selfish.

media, music in particular shouldn’t have a price tag. A small minority will agree that music isn’t made for the money, it is made for the enjoyment and the love and creating it and sharing it out to the world. The way genuine artists make a living from music is to play at concerts and solo gigs. A song or an album should be seen as a sample of one’s talent, and the gig to be the money maker, because you are paying to see the creator of that music in real life. A large amount of new artists, young and old are doing just that and embracing the free media movement, all your “talent shows” are the ones that are creating money hungry musicians because of the contracts and the general selfish business world. The money we spend to buy an album goes to the distributors, the artist is paid right when they decide to make a new song/album, or right as soon as they complete it.. basically the musician has already been paid well before it hits the shelves, the record company then sells their media to the wholesale distributors who then sell it on to the retail stores who then sell it to us the consumer. The money that you spend to buy the latest <insert mainstream artist here> mainstream being the artists that pump out song after song about love/sex/women/men on a weekly basis that is played on the radio stations that play the song more than 20 times a day in between advertisements played in between every second song, that money goes towards their drug use/alcohol/sex/overpriced cars/holidays in the exotics/court orders against “copyrighted material” and to their ridiculous demands before concerts that you hear about in the media, these artists don’t rely on the fans at all, they are loaded and blow the money on making it impossible for young talented artists to get their music out because their buddy’s, the record companies charge an arm and a leg to get creations out to the public to be noticed.

Why would an artist want money when all they do is make music in hope the world might like? why make us pay for something that is for us anyway? which is where pirating comes in, it bridges the gap and enables us to enjoy what is rightfully for everyone.

I have more respect for underrated musicians releasing their EPs and entire music collections for free than artists who make everything for a fee. I end up buying material that was released for free at the beginning, I go out of my way to buy their album or go to a gig and buy their band shirts. If material costs an arm and a leg to buy, or even $2 a song I’m not going to pay for it and I will go out of my way to illegally download it, just as half of Australia already does.

I’m not paying for your girls/helicopters/jets and mansions. how about give all your money away to the homeless/poor/charities and start again, your at the top anyway so why not make use of your quick fame. if I was an artist I would make my music for the people, not the money, and earn money by providing a service for a business A.K.A. a job.

Music is one of the greatest wonders of the universe and it too is being destroyed by the human instinct of claiming everything.

When I purchase media I then own it and I am free to do what I please with it, well that’s how it used to be. so the people uploading media they purchased is simply sharing it with others for them to enjoy.

If creating films/music/images is a chore then it isn’t really for you. So move on and work out the meaning of your life and leave the creations to real people!

Pirating will always continue, and DECENT musicians will always support it

Copyright is selfish.
